12th February: Thistle made a bad start to the season; they worked hard
and played well, but had no luck - and no wins, often losing by a single late goal.
To break the spell, Saturday before Christmas they notched up
their first victory away against Beith, who they whipped
by 2 goals to nil! This shot them from bottom of the table to a more respectable
3rd from bottom.
After the win against Cumbernauld on the 28th, a draw against Shotts
and a win against Hurlford through a spectacular goal by keeper Meechan,
they can continue to climb up the table over the next weeks.
But the last 2 matches away, they again lost by just the one goal,
last time to leaders Troon (where I was born!).
They are 12 points now behind the leaders Troon (with 25 from 13),
though to my way of calculation Bellshill are the real leaders still with
17 points from 7 starts.
